The ideal candidate will manage a caseload under partner supervision, draft legal documents, conduct research, attend legal proceedings, and prepare for trials. Superior analytical and communication skills are essential for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of medical malpractice cases with oversight from partners.
  • Draft motions, pleadings, and discovery responses tailored to case requirements.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed memorandums on case-related issues.
  • Attend hearings, court conferences, and other legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Take and defend depositions of witnesses, including medical experts.
  • Attend inspections and participate in investigative activities as required.
  • Consult with expert witnesses to strengthen case strategy and testimony.
  • Participate in mediations to facilitate settlement negotiations.
  • Assist in trial preparation and actively participate in trials as part of the litigation team.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar; certification for admission is acceptable.
  • 1-5 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation, preferably in a law firm setting.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex legal issues and develop effective strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear and persuasive advocacy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar is a plus.
