Junior Insurance Defense Attorney

We are seeking a Junior Insurance Defense Attorney to join a law firm in New York City, NY. This full-time position is suitable for candidates with 0-3 years of experience in handling liability defense cases, including commercial trucking, premises liability, and bodily injury claims. The firm offers training for newly admitted attorneys and recent graduates in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Duties:

• Case Management:

  • Independently manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense and coverage matters from inception to resolution.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop case strategies.
  • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.

• Client Interaction:

  • Serve as a primary contact for clients, providing regular updates and addressing concerns.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication.
  • Advise clients on complex legal issues and provide strategic guidance.

• Litigation Work:

  • Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, mediations, and arbitrations.
  • Conduct discovery, including interrogatories, depositions, and document review.

• Coverage Analysis:

  • Perform detailed analysis of insurance policies to determine coverage obligations and potential liabilities.
  • Draft comprehensive coverage opinions and position letters for clients.
  • Negotiate and resolve coverage disputes with opposing counsel.

• Team Collaboration:

  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and support staff.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure thorough handling of all aspects of each case.

• Business Development:

  • Participate in marketing and business development activities to attract and retain clients.
  • Attend industry conferences and networking events to enhance professional reputation.
  • Contribute to thought leadership by writing articles and presenting at events.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, and/or Pennsylvania.
• Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
