Job Overview: A law firm specializing in private wealth management seeks a dynamic Associate Attorney to join its Washington, DC, office. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in estate planning, taxation, and client advisory and focus on delivering high-quality legal services in compliance with ethical standards.

Duties:

  • Work on the advanced estate, generation-skipping transfer, income, and inheritance tax planning matters.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, ensuring strict compliance with ethical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to complete projects and tasks.
  • Assist in advising clients on sophisticated legal issues and interpreting laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Prepare client memos and collaborate with colleagues to provide comprehensive legal advice.
  • Attend meetings, participate in conference calls, and engage in client-facing interactions.
  • Establish priorities, manage concurrent projects, and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Develop client relationships, provide counsel, and represent clients in court and negotiations.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze problems, and interpret legal rulings and regulations.
  • Prepare gift tax and estate tax returns focusing on international aspects of estate planning.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with government agencies and bureaucracies.
  • 1 year of direct client interaction experience.
  • Juris Doctorate (or foreign equivalent) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) in taxation, focusing on estate planning.
  • Member in good standing of the District of Columbia Bar or eligibility to waive in or sit for the Bar exam.
