Job Overview:
A highly respected law firm with offices across the western and midwestern United States is seeking a Mid-Level Tax Associate to join its corporate and tax practice group. This role is ideal for an attorney with 3–5 years of experience advising on federal tax matters in both transactional and controversy contexts. The associate will support clients across industries such as energy, technology, agribusiness, and healthcare, with a focus on corporate transactions, tax structuring, renewable energy financing, and tax disputes. Location:

  • Anchorage, AK

Duties:

  • Advise clients on federal tax implications of complex business transactions

  • Structure and negotiate renewable energy deals and tax credit financings

  • Support mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, and fund formations

  • Handle federal, state, and local tax controversy matters

  • Draft legal documents, tax opinions, and client memoranda

  • Conduct legal research and monitor changes in tax laws and policy

  • Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups on cross-functional matters

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in federal tax law

  • Background in both transactional tax and tax controversy matters

  • Experience in corporate finance transactions (M&A, fund structuring, etc.)

  • Familiarity with renewable energy financing strongly preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently in a collaborative environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

  • In good standing and eligible to practice in the relevant office location

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing capabilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
