Job Overview:
An established law firm in San Jose, CA, is seeking a dedicated Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its team. This position offers a promising opportunity for new attorneys to gain valuable experience in immigration law. The Immigration Attorney will manage a caseload, engage in client interactions, and work alongside an experienced immigration team. Location:

  • San Jose, CA

Duties:

  • Explain immigration law concepts and develop strategic legal solutions for clients.
  • Represent clients, both non-detained and detained, in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Manage a caseload of diverse immigration matters.
  • Visit detention centers and conduct client intakes with detained individuals.
  • Prepare a wide range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as needed to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding updates and changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients to conduct consultations and develop strategic plans for their immigration cases.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients regarding potential benefits and strategies.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated interest in immigration law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar admission (law school graduates awaiting admission will also be considered).
  • Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative approach to working with associates and legal staff.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and client interaction abilities.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and drive cases forward.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar Admission (or pending admission for recent graduates).

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and case management abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
  • Ability to analyze legal issues and develop strategic approaches.
  • High-level client service skills and professionalism.
