A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking an Energy Regulatory Associate Attorney to provide legal support for clients in the energy sector. The ideal candidate will have experience with administrative litigation and regulatory matters before federal agencies, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Duties:

  • Represent clients in administrative litigation and regulatory proceedings before federal and state agencies, including FERC.
  • Handle regulatory approvals and defend against audit and enforcement actions for natural gas and liquid pipeline clients, as well as electric transmission providers and energy market participants.
  • Negotiate agreements related to oil and gas infrastructure, including transportation, gathering, and processing agreements, and related marketing agreements.
  • Provide regulatory compliance counseling and support for mergers and acquisitions in the energy sector.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents to support client needs.
  • Advise clients on regulatory compliance and emerging energy regulations.

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of transactional or litigation experience in the energy or utility sector.
  • Experience with administrative litigation and counseling clients before federal agencies is important.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the relevant state bar.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
