A reputable law firm is currently seeking a Mid-Level Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation team. This role is ideal for an attorney with strong experience in patent prosecution, including application drafting, and a background in mechanical or electrical engineering. The firm offers a dynamic environment for those looking to grow their legal careers in intellectual property law, particularly in patent prosecution.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications for a variety of clients, focusing on mechanical and electrical technologies.
  • Engage in the preparation and filing of patent applications with the USPTO.
  • Provide legal advice on patentability, infringement, and other related matters.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, ensuring that all actions align with client expectations and legal requirements.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys on strategic litigation and prosecution matters.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent law.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
  • Must be barred in the state of Massachusetts (MA).
  • Proven ability to manage a patent docket effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Education:

  • A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical field is required.

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration is required.
  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar is required.
