Duties:

  • Advise clients on land use matters, including project entitlements and administrative proceedings.

  • Analyze and interpret California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), state housing laws, planning and zoning laws, the Map Act, and municipal law.

  • Draft legal documents, including applications, reports, and legal memoranda.

  • Represent clients in administrative hearings and other land use-related proceedings.

  • Research and provide legal guidance on land use and environmental issues affecting clients.

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys for case strategies and complex legal matters.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, local government agencies, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of experience in land use law, either from a law firm or government agency.

  • Demonstrated experience or a strong interest in California land use, including CEQA, planning, zoning, and municipal law.

  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.

  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Bar membership in good standing in California.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of California land use laws, including CEQA and state housing laws.

  • Experience with project entitlements, administrative hearings, and zoning regulations.

  • Excellent research, writing, and legal analysis abilities.

  • Strong client communication and relationship-building skills.
