A law firm in New York City, NY, seeks a skilled Labor and Employment Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience to provide legal counsel and representation to employers on a wide range of employment law matters.

Duties:

  • Counsel employers on various employment-related issues such as leave entitlement, wage and hour compliance, hiring practices, terminations, discipline, handbook policies, and employment agreements.
  • Defend employers in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies like the EEOC, DOL, and state equivalents.
  • Handle all aspects of litigation, including responding to complaints, drafting and responding to discovery requests, managing e-discovery and document production, preparing dispositive motions, and drafting position statements.
  • Experience with wage and hour class/collective action litigation and/or restrictive covenant agreements is advantageous.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze legal issues, and provide sound legal advice and strategy to clients.
  • Draft legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and trials as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely billing records.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in New York; admission in MA, NJ, or PA is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in employment law practice at a reputable law firm.
  • Proven experience counseling employers and handling litigation matters related to employment law.
  • Familiarity with wage and hour laws, discrimination laws, and other relevant statutes and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and correspondence.
