Patent Agent

A law firm is seeking a patent agent for its Washington, DC, office.

Job Overview:

The Patent Agent will manage patent prosecution matters, draft patent applications, and conduct various patent-related tasks. They will collaborate closely with attorneys and clients, focusing primarily on the pharma and life sciences sectors.

Duties:

• Drafting patent applications
• Managing domestic and international dockets
• Preparing responses to Office Actions
• Corresponding with foreign associates
• Formulating search strategies
• Analyzing patents for due diligence or freedom to operate analyses
• Evaluating patentable subject matter
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors for efficient department, office, and firm functioning

Requirements:

• Patent prosecution experience
• Experience representing pharma and life sciences companies in patent matters
• Advanced degree in Biology, PhD preferred
• Registered patent agent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
• Prior work experience in a law firm and as a scientist strongly preferred
