Duties:

  • Conduct thorough legal review of files to determine and execute the next steps in the collection process.
  • Review and sign legal pleadings and demand letters, ensuring accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Ensure service of legal documents, such as writs of scire facias, in accordance with applicable procedural rules.
  • Validate debt in compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and track files for follow-up actions.
  • Review notices for compliance with statutory requirements under 53 P.S. §7106.
  • Communicate professionally with opposing counsel, property owners, and clients via phone and email.
  • Handle any issues related to pleadings, legal notices, or communications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of federal and state laws, including the Municipal Claims and Tax Liens Act, FDCPA, and Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act (FCEUA).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and personal integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams).
  • Familiarity with legal collection software (e.g., Collection Partner) is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Pennsylvania Bar membership.

Certifications:

  • Pennsylvania State Bar License (required).
