Job Overview: A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Lending Associate to join their Banking and Financial Services Department. The ideal candidate will have experience representing lenders in commercial lending transactions, including both secured and unsecured lending from origination through documentation. The role requires strong client relations, the ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously, and the capacity to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting client deadlines.

Location:

Duties:

  • Represent lenders in commercial finance transactions, particularly in secured and unsecured bank and private equity fund lending
  • Advise banks, private equity funds, and other financial institutions on documenting credit transactions
  • Work with UCC Article 9, mortgage, and property law as part of commercial lending transactions
  • Provide legal counsel to clients on complex lending issues and transaction structures
  • Assist in the negotiation and documentation of credit agreements
  • Maintain strong client relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Collaborate with team members on various legal matters and transactions

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in commercial lending transactions, at a law firm, bank, or finance company
  • Experience representing lenders in secured and unsecured lending transactions
  • Familiarity with UCC Article 9 and mortgage/property law
  • Proven ability to handle multiple transactions and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and client relation skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois Bar, or eligibility to waive into the Illinois Bar

Skills:

  • Expertise in commercial lending transactions and financial services law
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and writing skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
