A law firm seeks a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its established practice in Prairie Village, KS. Duties

  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs for state and federal court proceedings.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Provide timely updates and reporting to clients regarding case progress.
  • Participate in all stages of discovery, including taking and defending depositions.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to enhance case strategies and outcomes.
  • Manage caseloads effectively while prioritizing tasks and deadlines.
  • Attend court hearings and trials as required.
  • Research and interpret relevant facts and laws in complex litigation, particularly in the defense of medical malpractice claims.
  • Review and analyze medical records pertinent to ongoing cases.
  • Develop comprehensive litigation defense strategies.
  • Prepare daily time entries for accurate billing.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice in Kansas; Missouri admission is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in civil litigation and/or trial work is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and writing capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • A strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited institution.

Certifications

  • Active bar admission in Kansas; Missouri admission preferred.
