Labor & Employment Associate

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a talented associate with 4+ years of experience to join its dynamic Labor & Employment management-side team in San Diego. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment litigation, including knowledge of state and federal fair employment laws, wage-hour laws, FMLA, and related regulations. The role offers an opportunity to take on substantial responsibility, including handling matters independently, attending hearings, drafting motions, and preparing cases for trial.

Location:

• San Diego, California

Duties:

• Handle employment-related litigation matters, including case preparation, hearings, and discovery.
• Draft and respond to motions in federal and state courts.
• Work with clients on employment law issues, including compliance with state and federal fair employment laws, wage-hour laws, and FMLA.
• Take responsibility for managing cases from inception to trial.
• Attend hearings and represent clients before state and federal agencies and courts.
• Communicate with clients regarding case strategy and updates.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience in employment litigation.
• Knowledge of state and federal fair employment laws, wage-hour laws, FMLA, and related areas.
• Experience handling cases before state and federal agencies and courts.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple matters without detailed guidance.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience drafting motions, responding to discovery, and preparing cases for trial.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership in the State Bar (California preferred, but not required).

Skills:

• Expertise in employment litigation and case management.
• Strong understanding of wage-hour laws, FMLA, and fair employment laws.
• Excellent legal writing, research, and drafting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage complex cases.
• Strong negotiation and client management skills.
