Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in Fresno, CA, is seeking a dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to join their dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will manage a caseload of criminal defense matters, provide strategic legal counsel to clients, and represent them in various legal proceedings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse caseload of criminal defense matters, including but not limited to felonies, misdemeanors, and juvenile cases.
• Advise clients on legal rights and strategies in criminal proceedings.
• Prepare and draft legal documents, including motions, pleadings, and appeals.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support legal arguments and case strategies.
• Attend court hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings on behalf of clients.
• Interview witnesses, gather evidence, and prepare clients for deposition and trial.
• Negotiate plea agreements with prosecutors on behalf of clients when appropriate.
• Maintain communication with clients to provide updates on case developments and strategies.
• Collaborate effectively with the firm's Criminal Defense Team, legal assistants, and support staff.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar in good standing.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience practicing criminal defense law.
• Proven track record of handling complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Strong courtroom presence and excellent oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
