A law firm seeks a dedicated and skilled associate attorney to join its Housing Team in Salem, MA. The ideal candidate will focus on housing law, representing housing authorities, private landlords, and tenants in a range of state, federal, and public housing matters. This role offers the potential for in-office, hybrid, or remote work, providing a flexible and dynamic work environment. The firm seeks an individual with strong legal writing, communication, research, and negotiation skills. While prior experience in housing law is preferred, new attorneys are also encouraged to apply.

Duties:

  • Represent housing authorities in state, federal, and public housing matters.
  • Advocate for private landlords and tenants in summary process actions.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Conduct legal research and provide sound legal advice on housing law matters.
  • Negotiate settlements and dispute resolutions on behalf of clients.
  • Manage client communications, ensuring updates and advice are provided promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of case progress and documentation.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to strategize and develop case approaches.

Requirements:

  • Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and advocate effectively in legal matters.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in housing law or related fields preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be an active member of the Massachusetts Bar.
