Senior Immigration Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm seeks a highly skilled Senior Immigration Attorney to manage a diverse caseload and provide expert legal representation in immigration matters. The ideal candidate will be adept at explaining immigration concepts, strategizing solutions, and handling complex cases involving detained and non-detained individuals. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and a record of advancing legal cases efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Explain immigration concepts and develop strategic solutions for clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a substantial workload of immigration cases, including preparing and submitting diverse immigration applications such as removal defense, family-based petitions, and other USCIS filings.
  • Conduct intake interviews and counsel detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications and packets as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law changes.
  • Meet with potential clients to provide strategic consultations and devise appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop and prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS testimony.
  • Conduct legal analysis to determine potential benefits and strategic options for clients.
  • Draft and submit comprehensive legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Strong record of advancing legal cases and managing a caseload effectively.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR matters, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with associates and other legal professionals.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to strategize and handle complex immigration cases.
  • Proficient in preparing and reviewing legal documents and briefs.
