Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a highly experienced Partner-Level Attorney specializing in environmental law with a strong background in complex litigation. The ideal candidate will lead litigation teams, manage high-stakes cases, and provide strategic counsel to clients.

Job Duties:

  • Manage complex litigation cases in federal and state courts, administrative hearings, and other legal proceedings.
  • Lead litigation teams comprising attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants.
  • Develop and execute case strategies, prepare pleadings, and conduct motions practice and oral arguments.
  • Oversee document discovery, review, management, and production, including large-scale electronic discovery.
  • Conducted and defended fact, expert, and document depositions.
  • Hire and direct expert witnesses and apply technical research to legal arguments.
  • Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Author client memoranda, arbitration and mediation briefs, motions, and appellate briefings.
  • Present cases before federal and state courts and national audiences.
  • Perform efficient legal research on environmental law, civil procedure, administrative law, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and exercise superior judgment in all legal matters.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the DC Bar or eligible for admission.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental law with a focus on complex litigation.
  • Proven track record in managing litigation teams and handling high-value cases.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior legal research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and manage legal professionals and interact effectively with clients.
  • Demonstrated experience in client counseling, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution.

Preferred Skills:

  • Portable book of business.
  • Experience with arbitration and mediation.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations at federal and state levels.
