Duties

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology innovations.
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients on patent portfolio management, including patentability assessments and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients on patent litigation matters, including preparing and reviewing legal documents for cases.
  • Conduct prior art searches and analyze technical documents to assist in patent prosecution and litigation.
  • Assist in patentability and infringement opinions, ensuring compliance with patent office requirements.
  • Stay up to date with developments in patent law and relevant scientific advancements to advise clients effectively.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in patent prosecution, preferably within the chemical, pharma, or biotech industries.
  • Demonstrated expertise in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Strong understanding of patent law, particularly about the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology sectors.
  • Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field. Prior industry experience or postgraduate education is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail.

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field.

  • In-depth knowledge of intellectual property laws, particularly patent prosecution and litigation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen ability to navigate complex legal and scientific concepts.
