Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze complex legal issues.
  • Write memorandums, briefs, letters, and other legal documents.
  • Maintain a professional attitude with a strong sense of discretion to keep sensitive information secure and private.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, court members, and other employees.
  • Organize and manage time efficiently to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Market the firm’s services to prospective clients.
  • Perform discovery of electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for litigation.
  • Conduct due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Manage a schedule to allow for consultations and the closure of consults, including outside core hours and weekends as necessary.
  • Achieve a consult closing rate within the firm’s target range of 30-50%, depending on the practice area.
  • Approve invoices timely to ensure monthly financial health, avoiding recurring delays that may lead to disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure support staff are fully utilized and productive.
  • Update client information, fees, engagement details, trust accounts, and invoices accurately and completely in the case management system.
  • Share work tasks with other attorneys and support staff when over-subscribed to meet the firm's objectives.
  • Engage actively in brand expansion through blogs, social media posts, board participation, and organization involvement.
  • Seek and encourage positive client feedback and star reviews.
  • Advise and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association-accredited law school.
  • Admission (or eligibility for reciprocal admission) to the Washington State Bar.
  • 4-6 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on family law.
  • Mediation experience.
  • Trial experience.
  • Excellent legal research skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
