Job Overview
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Law Partner to join its growing Employment Law Department. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience, with a strong focus on the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) and class action litigation. Duties

  • PAGA Litigation
    • Manage and oversee PAGA claims, including class action-style lawsuits.
    • Develop legal strategies for PAGA claims, considering risk, settlement potential, and litigation costs.
    • Oversee discovery, gather evidence, depose key witnesses, and prepare for hearings and trials.
  • Client Advisory & Compliance
    • Provide counsel on compliance with California labor laws, conduct audits, and advise on best practices to reduce PAGA risks.
    • Help clients develop and implement policies on wage and hour issues, employee classification, and meal/rest break compliance.
    • Advise clients on the impact of new legislation or case law on PAGA claims.
  • Client Relationship & Business Development
    • Cultivate and expand client relationships, offering ongoing legal support and identifying opportunities for business growth.
    • Deliver presentations, workshops, or training on PAGA compliance to current and prospective clients.
    • Generate new client leads through networking, industry events, and leveraging the firm’s reputation in employment law.
  • Team Supervision & Mentorship
    • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and staff, ensuring high-quality work and professional growth.
    • Review and approve legal work, including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses, ensuring compliance and quality.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring team members stay up-to-date on PAGA developments and strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in employment law, with a strong focus on PAGA and class action litigation.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) and class action procedures.
  • Experience in public entity defense is a plus.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage complex litigation and lead legal teams.
  • Excellent client management and business development capabilities.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Member of the State Bar of California in good standing.

Skills

  • Expertise in PAGA and employment law.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and negotiation abilities.
  • Leadership and team management skills with experience mentoring junior attorneys.
