Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Special Counsel for a remote, nationwide role focused on labor and employment law. The position involves handling administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and employment litigation for a diverse range of clients, including those with Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI). This role includes managing litigation matters directly, supervising other attorneys, and providing strategic guidance. It offers flexibility with remote work and provides a full-cycle litigation experience without business development pressure. Duties:

  • Handle administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and employment litigation.
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies.
  • Supervise and guide other attorneys, reviewing and drafting legal work product.
  • Conduct depositions and represent clients at hearings, conferences, and trials.
  • Work primarily on administrative charges, demand letters, and single-plaintiff litigation, with potential involvement in class actions and PAGA cases.
  • Collaborate with partners and a team of attorneys in a virtual office environment.
  • Provide support to a team of paralegals and a shared secretarial pool.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in employment law and litigation.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote setting.
  • Experience handling employment law matters, including administrative charges and demand letters.
  • Proven ability to manage a full litigation cycle.
  • Experience with EPLI-related matters is preferred.
  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar.
  • Strong experience in managing and supervising teams of attorneys.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active state bar membership in good standing.
  • Preferred bar admission in California.

  • Strong expertise in employment law and litigation.
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills.
  • Proficiency in managing complex cases and legal strategy.
