Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join its team in Houston, TX. Location:

Duties:

  • Meet with current clients and potential new clients to discuss legal matters.
  • Manage assigned docket of litigation cases.
  • Negotiate settlements and resolutions on behalf of clients.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings and motions.
  • Respond to discovery requests and draft discovery responses.
  • Assist in preparing clients for depositions and mediation sessions.
  • Appear in court, at hearings, and trials to represent clients.
  • Maintain and update client files, ensuring all documentation is current and organized.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the American Bar Association (ABA).
  • Previous experience in depositions and litigation is preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, handle multiple cases, and work independently.
  • Competency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to learn new legal software.
  • Strong knowledge of Texas procedural law and the litigation process.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active member of the Texas State Bar.
  • Active membership with the American Bar Association (ABA) is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage a docket and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
