A law firm seeks a dedicated Criminal Defense Attorney to join its Redwood City team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an attorney to handle complex criminal cases and grow professionally within a well-established firm. The Criminal Defense Attorney will have the chance to manage a variety of criminal cases, from pretrial hearings to court appearances, while collaborating with a supportive team of legal professionals. Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and options related to criminal cases.
  • Represent clients in pretrial hearings, advising them on strategies after each session.
  • Manage all aspects of court appearances, including trials, motions, and witness interviews.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to assess probable outcomes of cases based on legal precedents.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and help define case strategies.
  • Gather evidence and build compelling arguments in defense of clients.
  • Review case materials and develop strategies to challenge prosecution charges.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently while maintaining strong client communication.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal assistants to share insights and develop case strategies.

Requirements:

  • Experience handling criminal defense cases at the state, federal, and/or local level.
  • Strong legal analysis skills and ability to evaluate case outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to collaborate and work within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with clients and witnesses effectively.
  • Must be able to manage a significant caseload and meet deadlines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of California or the ability to obtain membership.

Skills:

  • Expertise in criminal defense law and courtroom procedures.
  • Familiarity with legal research and drafting motions.
  • Strong case management abilities.
  • Experience interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence.
  • Effective client communication and counseling skills.
