A law firm specializing in complex consumer class actions seeks a Senior Associate Attorney to join its legal team in Malibu, CA. The ideal candidate will manage a caseload involving emerging technology, AI, data privacy, and other complex consumer issues. This role requires extensive litigation experience and CA Bar admission.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload involving complex legal issues related to emerging technology, AI, data privacy, and consumer class actions.
  • Evaluate new cases and prepare comprehensive case proposals.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis.
  • Develop and recommend effective case strategies.
  • Draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents in file-ready form.
  • Oversee the filing process for motions and briefs.
  • Prepare, finalize, and serve stipulations, discovery letters, joint statements, and proposed orders.
  • Correspond with co-counsel, opposing counsel, court personnel, and clients as necessary.
  • Draft, propound, review, and respond to discovery; manage discovery disputes.
  • Prepare for and take/defend depositions.
  • Attend mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings.
  • Take arguments at mediations, arbitrations, and court hearings.
  • Attend and/or lead team and firm meetings.
  • Adhere to all deadlines, both internal and court-mandated.
  • Perform administrative duties related to the practice of law.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of litigation experience.
  • Admission to the California Bar is required; additional admission in NY, IL, or other jurisdictions is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong writing, legal research, and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with e-filing systems preferred.
  • Ability to independently take depositions and argue motions.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
