Job Overview: A respected law firm is seeking an experienced Energy Associate to join its Energy Practice in Washington, D.C. This in-person role involves working on a range of transactional and regulatory matters, including energy purchase agreements and representation before federal and state regulatory commissions. The ideal candidate has a strong writing background and at least four years of experience in energy law, with aspirations for partnership.

Location:

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties:

  • Handle transactional energy matters, such as power purchase agreements, EEIs, ISDAs, gas prepays, and energy storage service agreements
  • Represent clients in regulatory proceedings, including matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state public service commissions
  • Draft and review legal documents related to energy transactions and regulatory compliance
  • Manage client matters independently and provide direct client interaction
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support regulatory and transactional objectives

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in energy-related transactional or regulatory law
  • Strong interest in energy law and potential for future partnership
  • Proven experience working with energy transactions or regulatory proceedings

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in good standing in Washington, D.C., or eligibility for D.C. bar admission

Skills:

  • Exceptional writing and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage cases independently and work directly with clients
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
