Job Overview

A prestigious law firm in Orlando, FL, is seeking an entry-level Tax Associate Attorney to join its Affordable Housing and Tax Credit Team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a dedicated legal team handling complex transactions involving affordable housing development, tax credits, and related financing.

Duties

  • Represent for-profit and nonprofit developers in acquiring, constructing, rehabilitating, operating, and selling affordable multifamily housing.

  • Provide legal counsel on tax credit financing, federal and state affordable housing programs, and regulatory compliance.

  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and negotiate agreements related to tax credits and real estate transactions.

  • Collaborate with attorneys, developers, and financial institutions to facilitate affordable housing projects nationwide.

  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and housing regulations that impact clients and transactions.

Requirements

  • Active membership (in good standing) in any State Bar; admission to the Florida Bar is preferred.

  • Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

  • LLM in Taxation preferred.

  • An undergraduate degree in Accounting is strongly preferred.

Certifications

  • Admission to a State Bar is required; Florida Bar admission is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong foundation in partnership tax and federal income tax credits.

  • Exceptional legal writing and analytical abilities.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a team and work independently when necessary.

  • Familiarity with affordable housing programs and tax credit financing structures.
