A law firm seeks an experienced First Party Coverage Attorney to join its team in Los Angeles, CA. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with at least two years of experience in insurance coverage and bad-faith litigation. The role supports both national and international clients in the first-party coverage practice. Duties:

  • Represent clients in first-party coverage disputes, focusing on insurance litigation and bad faith claims.
  • Manage a caseload involving both state and federal court matters, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Take and defend depositions, attend court hearings, and make appearances for motions and trials.
  • Work closely with senior associates and partners to develop case strategies and ensure successful litigation outcomes.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including client interactions, legal publications, and professional networking.
  • Provide clear and concise legal advice to clients, while keeping them informed of developments and strategies in their cases.
  • Maintain a high level of legal knowledge, including staying up to date on relevant legal and industry changes.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance coverage litigation, with a focus on first-party claims and bad faith.
  • Proven experience handling litigation in both state and federal courts, including drafting key documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions, and making court appearances.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills, with an ability to draft persuasive legal arguments and motions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively advocate in court and communicate with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Must be admitted and in good standing with the California State Bar. Additional bar admissions are a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar (required).
  • Additional state bar memberships are a plus.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of first-party coverage disputes and bad faith litigation.
  • Strong litigation skills with experience in both state and federal courts.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
