Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their team for a Pleading Review position. The primary responsibility of this role is to review complaints, letters, and other legal pleadings to determine whether sufficient grounds exist to proceed based on Federal, State, and Client regulations. The ideal candidate will ensure all legal documents comply with firm protocols, legal requirements, and best practices.

Location:

  • Houston, TX

Duties:

  • Review pleadings for accuracy, ensuring proper venue, named parties, statute of limitations, and correct documentation.
  • Ensure theories of recovery are appropriately applied in complaints and pleadings.
  • Conduct legal research to verify that pleadings and relevant laws are current and comply with applicable regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with other legal team members and stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with internal protocols, legal strategies, and organizational goals.

Requirements:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in the Creditors’ Rights or Collections field (preferred).
  • Strong background in pleading and complaint review, particularly in collections-related court documents.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas (Texas Bar).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (Intermediate level).
  • Ability to quickly learn new technical programs and tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
