Senior Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm in Austin, TX, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Patent Agent registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in patent prosecution and a solid technical background in biological or pharmaceutical sciences.

Duties:

• Conducting prior art searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses
• Analyzing patents and scientific papers to assist with patent preparation, prosecution, and counseling
• Managing patent portfolios and developing a patent strategy
• Providing technical expertise in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, virology, chemistry, organic chemistry, or pharmacy

Requirements:

• 10+ years of patent prosecution experience
• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
• Ph.D. or M.S. in cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, virology, chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacy, or related field
• Broad technical knowledge in biological sciences and pharmaceutical sciences
• Experience in patent portfolio management and strategy development

Education:

• Ph.D. or M.S. in a relevant technical field

Certifications:

• Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

Skills:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Fluency in English
• Excellent academic record
