Job Overview:
A well-established national law firm is seeking a highly motivated Professional Liability Attorney with a focus on Architects & Engineers to join its Litigation team in Chicago, IL. This position is ideal for an attorney with at least three years of experience defending professional liability claims, including those related to construction defects. The role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, defending corporate and professional clients in complex litigation matters.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Defend clients in professional liability cases involving Architects & Engineers and construction defects.
  • Handle insurance defense claims and other related professional liability matters.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to clients in the construction and design industries.
  • Represent clients in court, including depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Manage case files from inception through resolution.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys, clients, and experts in the development of legal strategies.
  • Engage in settlement negotiations and dispute resolution processes.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients and provide regular updates on case progress.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in professional liability defense, particularly involving Architects & Engineers and construction defects.
  • Experience in insurance defense is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of professional liability laws and regulations.
  • Ability to handle a caseload independently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong litigation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois.

Skills:

  • Expertise in professional liability defense, particularly related to Architects & Engineers and construction defects.
  • Strong litigation skills, including trial preparation and courtroom experience.
  • Excellent research, writing, and drafting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases.
  • Strong client service skills and the ability to build client relationships.
  • Experience in insurance defense is beneficial.
