A law firm seeks an experienced and motivated Associate Attorney to join its team and support its growing foreclosure practice in Maryland. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced and challenging legal environment where you will manage complex foreclosure cases, provide legal expertise, and collaborate with both clients and internal teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in foreclosure law and a proactive approach to managing case files and client relationships.

Duties:

  • Subject Matter Expertise:

    • Develop and share in-depth knowledge of foreclosure law to guide clients, partners, and internal team members.
    • Stay current on legal developments and trends in foreclosure and related areas, ensuring compliance with relevant statutes and regulations.
    • Serve as a resource for legal advice and solutions, responding to client and internal inquiries with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Legal Document Review and Preparation:

    • Review legal documents, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and legal sufficiency.
    • Draft and execute pleadings, motions, and other legal documents in accordance with client objectives and legal requirements.
    • Address and resolve document discrepancies and ensure that all materials meet local legal standards.
  • Client Interaction and Communication:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing timely and clear responses to questions and legal inquiries.
    • Manage client communications, escalate complex issues as necessary, and ensure client expectations are met.
    • Work closely with clients to guide them through the foreclosure process, offering expert legal counsel and advice.
  • Case and File Management:

    • Oversee the progress of foreclosure files, ensuring that all case milestones are met and that files are organized and up-to-date.
    • Develop and implement strategies to keep cases moving forward, resolving delays and removing obstacles that may affect timelines.
    • Participate in client calls and workgroups to discuss file progress, case strategy, and next steps.
  • Legal Oversight and Collaboration:

    • Provide legal oversight to junior staff and non-attorneys, ensuring that all legal processes are followed correctly.
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure that legal and ethical requirements are met across all practice areas.
    • Offer legal counsel on operational processes and assist in educating the team on complex legal matters.
  • Risk Management and Legal Compliance:

    • Identify and mitigate risks in foreclosure cases, responding promptly to emerging legal issues.
    • Ensure legal compliance across all cases, reviewing processes regularly and making necessary adjustments to maintain high standards.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Maryland State Bar, in good standing.
  • Strong understanding of foreclosure law and related legal processes.
  • Excellent analytical, legal writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously, with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to work with clients and other parties to reach favorable outcomes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and other legal software tools (e.g., Adobe, Nuance Power PDF).
  • Comfortable with new technologies and adapting to different software systems.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active member of the Maryland State Bar and in good standing.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to oversee complex legal processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective client interaction and internal collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a legal team.
