A law firm seeks a skilled Municipal Law Attorney to join their team in Walnut Creek, CA. This role offers the possibility of working remotely or in a hybrid capacity. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in municipal transactional law and be capable of providing legal counsel on a wide range of issues for public agencies. The attorney will handle matters such as drafting ordinances, managing public meetings, and advising on land use, conflicts of interest, and other municipal legal matters.

Duties:

  • Provide legal advice to public agencies on matters of municipal law, including drafting ordinances and resolutions.
  • Advise clients on compliance with open meeting laws, land use, zoning, and planning regulations.
  • Handle issues related to conflicts of interest, free speech regulations, public safety, and election law.
  • Participate in public meetings and assist clients in navigating the legal aspects of such events.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents, and prepare briefs and motions.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in municipal law, with a focus on transactional matters.

  • Strong understanding of land use, planning, and zoning laws.
  • Familiarity with public safety regulations, conflicts of interest, free speech, and election law.
