A law firm in Columbia, MO is seeking a motivated and independent Appellate Attorney to work remotely. The candidate will be responsible for writing arguments to appeal administrative decisions. This role requires excellent communication skills and minimal direct supervision. A background in Social Security Disability law or appellate work is advantageous. An active attorney license in Missouri, Kansas, or Oklahoma is preferred. Experience with Social Security Disability law and writing appeals is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare persuasive appellate arguments challenging administrative decisions.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support appellate briefs and arguments.
  • Analyze administrative records, case files, and relevant legal issues.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders about case progress and outcomes.
  • Ensure that all appellate documents comply with legal standards and deadlines.
  • Independently manage a remote workload with minimal direct oversight.

Requirements

  • Active attorney license through a state bar association, preferably in Missouri, Kansas, or Oklahoma.
  • Experience in Social Security Disability law is preferred.
  • Experience in writing and handling appeals is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively with minimal supervision.

Education

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active bar admission in Missouri, Kansas, or Oklahoma is preferred.
