Job Overview: A premier law firm is seeking a motivated and experienced Post-Conviction Relief Attorney to join their team in the Victorville area. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an Associate Attorney with prior litigation or appellate experience to specialize in post-conviction relief cases while gaining exposure to both criminal and immigration law. The Post-Conviction Relief Attorney will manage a caseload, interact with clients, and work alongside a collaborative team of attorneys and legal assistants.

Location:

  • Victorville, CA

Duties:

  • Advise clients on their legal rights and draft legal documents related to their cases.
  • Manage post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce sentences, early termination of probation, etc.
  • Attend motion hearings on behalf of clients and provide post-hearing advice on strategy.
  • Handle open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing on behalf of other attorneys within the firm.
  • Draft motions, interview clients, and perform legal research.
  • Analyze probable case outcomes based on legal precedents.
  • Provide legal analysis to clients on potential case benefits and best strategies.
  • Manage a full caseload and maintain client interaction.

Requirements:

  • Experience in criminal defense or immigration law.
  • Prior experience handling criminal cases at the state and local level.
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively while collaborating with a team.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the practice of law in California.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to handle litigation and post-conviction relief motions.
  • In-depth knowledge of criminal law and, ideally, immigration law.
  • Excellent verbal communication and client interaction skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
