Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a highly qualified Real Estate Finance Associate for its Chicago office. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience in commercial real estate debt financing transactions, including mortgage and mezzanine financings, preferred equity investments, loan originations, construction loans, loan participations, syndications, and co-lender and intercreditor arrangements. The role will provide an opportunity to work on complex transactions in a dynamic and supportive team environment.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Advise clients on commercial real estate finance matters, including mortgage and mezzanine financings, preferred equity investments, loan originations, and construction loans.
  • Handle loan participations, syndications, loan sales, and other co-lender and intercreditor arrangements.
  • Assist with workouts and restructurings of real estate financing transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate financing documents and agreements.
  • Manage multiple projects and client relationships, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to provide strategic advice on real estate finance matters.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in real estate finance, specifically in commercial real estate debt financing transactions.
  • Experience with mortgage and mezzanine financings, preferred equity investments, and loan participations.
  • Strong understanding of loan syndications, co-lender arrangements, and intercreditor agreements.
  • Experience in workouts and restructurings of real estate financing transactions.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar (Illinois preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills in real estate finance transactions.
  • Excellent legal research and writing abilities.
  • Ability to manage complex transactions and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Strong client management skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
