A law firm is seeking an experienced Removal Defense Associate or Senior Associate Attorney to join its team. This position involves managing case files, preparing legal documents, and representing clients facing deportation in court. The successful candidate will handle cases related to asylum, removal defense, and crimmigration. The role requires virtual and in-person court appearances, including travel to hearings as needed, and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to develop effective legal strategies.

Duties

  • Manage and update case files and correspondences
  • Coordinate legal strategies with team members
  • Prepare and manage various case filings, ensuring compliance with deadlines
  • Represent clients in court via WebEx and in-person at the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR)
  • Draft and review briefs, cover letters, and case filings for submission to EOIR
  • Research complex legal issues and apply relevant statutes, judicial, and agency decisions
  • Stay updated on legislative changes affecting immigration law
  • Travel for hearings as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the firm’s mission

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) from an accredited law school
  • Active Bar license in good standing in any U.S. state
  • 2-5 years of attorney experience in immigration law, particularly in asylum, removal defense, and crimmigration
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexibility with work schedules
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Advanced computer skills and quick adaptability to new software
  • Reliable transportation to EOIR hearings in Miami or Krome
  • Ability to travel for court hearings as required

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active Bar license in good standing (U.S.)
