A law firm in Richmond is seeking an experienced Environmental Attorney with at least 5 years of experience to provide counsel on a wide range of environmental matters. The candidate will interface with colleagues, clients, and regulatory bodies, advising on mergers and acquisitions, permitting, compliance, risk mitigation, and renewable energy projects.

 

Duties:

  • Advise clients on environmental matters related to mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, tax credits, and financing.
  • Handle permitting issues concerning stormwater, air, and water emissions.
  • Provide counsel on risk mitigation strategies and federal, state, and local regulatory compliance.
  • Address emerging contaminants and renewable energy projects.
  • Assist with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance.
  • Interface directly with clients, colleagues, and regulatory authorities.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on environmental laws and regulations.
  • Draft legal documents, including contracts, permits, and compliance plans.
  • Manage cases involving pollution legal liability insurance and prior defense sites.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of environmental law experience in the public and/or private sector.
  • Familiarity with federal environmental laws and standards, including CERCLA, NEPA, RCRA, TSCA, FIFRA, CWA, and CAA.
  • Transactional experience preferred.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

 

Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of environmental laws and regulations.
  • Experience advising clients on transactional matters and risk management.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
  • Proficiency in legal research and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex environmental issues.
  • Portable business preferred.
