Job Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team specializing in patent prosecution and litigation. The firm is looking for an experienced professional who will handle a diverse range of IP-related matters, with a focus on patent drafting and prosecution.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications related to electrical engineering, software, and mechanical technologies.
  • Assist in patent litigation matters, including analysis of prior art, claim construction, and patent infringement issues.
  • Conduct patentability assessments and provide strategic counsel on intellectual property matters.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and manage their patent portfolios.
  • Perform patent searches and analysis to identify potential issues or opportunities for clients.
  • Prepare formal legal documents such as patent office responses, claims charts, and briefs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate filing of patent applications.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in patent prosecution, including application drafting.
  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Proven ability to handle a variety of IP matters, particularly in patent prosecution.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Prior experience in the electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience with other forms of intellectual property is a plus.

Education:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field (e.g., Physics or Mathematics).

Certifications:

  • USPTO registration is required.

Skills:

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in patent drafting and prosecution strategies.
  • Familiarity with patent litigation processes and strategies is beneficial.
