The role will primarily involve offering legal counsel, performing in-depth legal research, and providing assistance with active cases in administrative, state, and federal courts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education law and a proven track record in handling complex legal issues.

Duties:

• Provide legal advice and counsel to clients, specifically in the area of special education law
• Conduct legal research and draft memorandums, briefs, and other legal documents
• Assist in negotiations with bargaining units on behalf of clients
• Represent clients in administrative proceedings and state and federal court matters
• Work alongside senior attorneys to manage ongoing caseloads and assist in strategy development
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal developments, particularly in special education law

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in legal practice, with a focus on special education law
• Proven ability to conduct thorough legal research and analysis
• Strong negotiation, communication, and client-relations skills
• Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities effectively
• In-depth understanding of the legal landscape related to educational institutions or local government representation
• Experience in handling matters before state and federal courts

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Admission to the New York State Bar

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in the state of New York
