Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a mid-level IP Patent Prosecution Attorney to join its expanding Intellectual Property Practice Group. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with 3+ years of experience in patent prosecution, portfolio management, patent search and analysis, and the drafting and filing of patent applications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in a variety of industries, including mechanical, biomedical, or medical devices, although experience in these areas is not required. Litigation experience is a plus but not necessary.

Location:

  • East Hanover, NJ

Duties:

  • Manage and execute patent prosecution activities across diverse industries
  • Conduct patent searches and analysis to inform patent filings
  • Draft and file patent applications with the USPTO
  • Advise clients on patent portfolio management and strategy
  • Maintain strong client relationships and manage communications
  • Support in the development of IP strategy for clients
  • Optional involvement in patent litigation, depending on interest and expertise

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in patent prosecution
  • Experience in mechanical, biomedical, or medical device industries is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with USPTO rules and patent law
  • Patent litigation experience is a plus, but not a requirement
  • Strong client service and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biomedical science, or a related technical field is preferred

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar
  • USPTO registration
