Job Overview:
An established law firm is seeking an associate-level attorney to join its long-term care/health care teams. The role will focus on regulatory and risk management issues within the health care sector, including licensing, survey and certification, compliance, and ALJ appeals. The firm is open to candidates with or without prior health law experience, providing support and training to those with strong potential. Candidates will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of critical health care law areas while fostering long-term client relationships.

Location:

  • Ithaca, NY

Duties:

  • Provide counsel on long-term care/health law matters, including licensing, survey and certification, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid compliance, and CON issues.
  • Maintain strong, lasting client relationships through proactive communication and high-quality service.
  • Participate in client meetings, presentations, and business development initiatives to expand the firm’s health care practice.
  • Stay current on evolving health care laws and regulations, contributing to the firm’s thought leadership.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive legal support to clients.
  • Meet the firm’s billable hour requirement of 1800 hours annually.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in corporate or litigation law (health care experience preferred).
  • Candidates with less experience but a strong passion for health care law and a willingness to learn will also be considered.
  • Admission to the New York, Connecticut, or Massachusetts Bar is required; ability to waive into other jurisdictions is preferred.
  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Must be an active member in good standing of the bar.
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize workload.
  • Quick learner with the ability to absorb and process new information rapidly.
  • High standards of performance and a professional, cooperative, and flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities at various organizational levels.
  • Military experience is welcome.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York, Connecticut, or Massachusetts Bar is required.
