A law firm is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Litigation Associate Attorney to join their team in Westport, CT. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of litigation experience, possess a strong academic record, and demonstrate superior research, writing, and interpersonal communication skills. A judicial clerkship is a plus, and the successful candidate must be interested in practicing in Connecticut. Occasional travel may be required based on business needs.

 

Duties:

  • Represent clients in civil litigation matters, including trials, hearings, and depositions.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Draft and file legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Engage in discovery processes, including drafting and responding to interrogatories and document requests.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and court officials.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and counsel to clients.
  • Prepare for and attend court appearances, mediations, and settlement conferences.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal professionals within the firm to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to litigation practice.
  • Manage multiple cases and ensure timely progress on all legal matters.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission (or ability to obtain admission) to the Connecticut Bar.
  • New York Bar admission is a plus.
  • 5+ years of litigation experience.
  • Judicial clerkship experience is a plus.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong academic record.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally based on business needs.
  • High ethical standards and professional integrity.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

  • Admission (or ability to obtain admission) to the Connecticut Bar.
  • New York Bar admission is a plus.
