Job Overview:

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the SIJS process, exceptional legal skills, and a compassionate approach to working with young clients and their families. They will manage SIJS cases from start to finish, advocating for clients' best interests and ensuring their legal rights are protected throughout the process.

Duties:

  • Manage SIJS cases from start to finish, including filing complaints for custody or guardianship and representing clients in family and immigration court.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare the necessary documentation for SIJS petitions.
  • Provide expert legal counsel and support to clients and their families throughout the SIJS process.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for clients.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of immigration laws and regulations related to SIJS.
  • Advocate for clients' best interests and always protect their legal rights.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, informing them of case progress and addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Participate in firm meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar.
  • 2+ years of experience handling SIJS cases, including appearances in family and immigration court.
  • Strong understanding of SIJS laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable clients.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are preferred.
