Job Overview
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Law Partner with over 8 years of experience, specifically in Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) litigation. Duties

  • PAGA Litigation:
    • Oversee and manage PAGA claims, including class action-style lawsuits.
    • Develop legal strategies and manage risk, settlement potential, and litigation costs.
    • Supervise discovery processes, depositions, hearings, and trial preparations.
  • Client Advisory & Compliance:
    • Provide counsel on compliance with California labor laws and conduct audits.
    • Advise clients on best practices to mitigate PAGA risks and prevent future claims.
    • Assist clients with wage and hour issues, employee classification, and meal/rest break compliance.
    • Stay updated on legislative changes and advise clients on their impact on PAGA claims.
  • Client Relationship & Business Development:
    • Build and expand client relationships.
    • Identify business development opportunities and generate new leads.
    • Deliver presentations, workshops, and training on PAGA compliance.
  • Team Supervision & Mentorship:
    • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and staff.
    • Review and approve legal work, including motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
    • Foster a collaborative team environment and ensure continued professional development.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in employment law, with a focus on PAGA litigation.
  • Experience with public entity defense is a plus.
  • Strong research, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to proactively manage complex cases.
  • Member in good standing with the California State Bar.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Certifications

  • California State Bar membership required.

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of PAGA litigation, California labor law, and employment law.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Expertise in legal writing, research, and case management.
  • Excellent client relations and business development skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases simultaneously.
