A law firm seeks an experienced Family Law Associate Attorney to join its growing team in the greater Cincinnati area. This position is ideal for an attorney with at least 3 years of family law experience, including litigation and courtroom exposure. The firm offers a supportive, collaborative work environment where professionals have the flexibility to manage their schedules and caseloads with the backing of a dedicated support staff. This role provides the opportunity to handle sensitive family law issues while contributing to the firm's ongoing expansion.

Duties

  • Represent clients in family law matters, including child custody, child abuse, domestic violence, and divorce cases.
  • Effectively negotiate and advocate for clients in emotional and high-stress situations.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders.
  • Handle a high volume of cases, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Manage a full caseload, meeting the minimum billable hours requirement of 110 per month.
  • Participate in court proceedings, providing robust legal advocacy and representation.
  • Divide marital assets, including real estate and retirement accounts, for high-net-worth clients.
  • Develop strategic legal plans and provide counsel to clients on complex family law matters.
  • Attend networking events (minimum two hours per week) to foster client relationships and business growth.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, contributing to case strategy and the firm's development.
  • Utilize modern technology to manage case files and communicate with clients remotely.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Ohio Bar license (must have passed the Ohio Bar Exam).
  • Minimum of 3 years of family law experience, with a focus on litigation and courtroom practice.
  • Proven ability to handle complex family law matters, including child custody, divorce, and domestic violence cases.
  • Experience in resolving high-net-worth divorce cases involving complex property and asset division.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills, particularly in emotionally charged situations.
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload, meet deadlines and maintain strict attention to detail.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with clients and court personnel.
  • Must be willing to obtain Notary Public Certification or hold it already.
  • Ability to think critically and develop strategic solutions for clients.
  • Must commit to networking a minimum of two hours per week.
  • Reliable transportation for court appearances and client meetings.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Ohio State Bar License (Required).
  • Notary Public Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Family Law Certification (or willingness to pursue when eligible).
