Healthcare Regulatory Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Seattle, WA, is seeking an experienced Healthcare Regulatory Attorney to handle regulatory and licensing issues for healthcare clients. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with state and federal healthcare regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid, and will be adept at negotiating agreements and managing compliance issues.

Duties:

• Advise clients on healthcare regulatory and licensing matters.
• Manage compliance with Oregon or Washington State health care regulations.
• Negotiate business associate agreements, data use agreements and data transfer agreements.
• Conduct HIPAA risk analysis and manage data incident response and breach notification.
• Handle licensing of electronic health records.
• Address issues related to Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement, healthcare operations, and medical staff.
• Stay updated on federal and state security requirements (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2).

Requirements:

• 5-6 years of experience with healthcare clients on regulatory and licensing issues.
• Experience with Oregon or Washington State health care regulations.
• Familiarity with enforcement related to Medicare, Medicaid, or other government health programs.
• Prior experience in HIPAA compliance, data incident management, and licensing.

Education:

• JD from an accredited university.

Certifications:

• Privacy or information security certification preferred (e.g., CIPP/US, CISSP, CHISSP).
• Membership in the Oregon or Washington State Bar is strongly preferred.
