Job Overview: A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an experienced Immigration Attorney to join their dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing both detained and non-detained individuals in immigration proceedings, providing strategic immigration solutions, and working closely with law enforcement and community organizations. This role requires a deep understanding of immigration law, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Explain complex immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage and prioritize a workload of various immigration cases.
  • Conduct intakes and visit detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and revise immigration applications/packets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations regarding changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients to determine the best action for their cases.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Provide thorough legal analysis to identify potential case benefits for clients.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration-related cases.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience practicing Immigration Law.
  • Strong track record of advancing legal cases and managing a caseload efficiently.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills of the highest caliber, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS processes.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with a State Bar Association.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in the State of California.
