Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a skilled Bankruptcy Attorney to represent secured creditors in consumer bankruptcy cases, including Chapter 7, 11, and 13. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience and be well-versed in the Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure. While experience is preferred, the firm is open to training a dedicated candidate with less experience. This role offers the opportunity to manage routine bankruptcy matters and work with clients, opposing counsel, and the Court to resolve issues.

Location:

  • Charlotte, NC

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee routine bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 7, 11, and 13 cases

  • Draft and review all pleadings and claims associated with bankruptcy cases

  • Attend scheduled hearings and represent clients in bankruptcy court

  • Respond to general bankruptcy inquiries within the firm

  • Review bankruptcy filings on behalf of clients to ensure accuracy

  • Monitor all electronic filings (ECFs) for relevant updates

  • Resolve routine bankruptcy issues such as Motions for Relief, Objections to Confirmation, Proofs of Claim, and other matters

  • Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, and the Court

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in bankruptcy law or willingness to learn

  • In-depth knowledge of the Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, and creditor rights laws

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar license in North Carolina or Tennessee

  • Admission to Bankruptcy Courts in North Carolina or Tennessee

Skills:

  • Expertise in bankruptcy laws and creditor rights

  • Proficiency in bankruptcy software and Microsoft Office applications

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

  • Effective time management and organizational skills
