Duties:

  • Provide legal support and advice on tax implications related to mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on complex tax issues.
  • Draft and review transactional documents, including tax opinions, memoranda, and agreements.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior associates on client matters, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Assist in tax planning strategies for corporate clients to optimize tax efficiencies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of tax law experience, specifically on mergers and acquisitions.
  • Experience in an AmLaw 200 tax group, federal Tax M&A group, or similar practice area at a Big 4 Accounting firm is highly preferred.
  • LL.M. in Taxation from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Michigan or eligibility to waive into the Michigan Bar.

Certifications:

  • Preferred certifications include CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or similar tax-related certifications.
